* Texas Tech fell 69-47 to No. 22/24 Kansas State on
Wednesday night
* The Red Raiders fall to 7-12 and 0-7 in Big 12 Conference
play marking the worst start in Big 12 play since the 1999-2000 season when the
team started 0-8 in conference play
* The Wildcats improve to 15-4, 4-3 in Big 12 play and with
the win extends their winning streak to three in a row against Conference foes
* Martavious Irving led the
Wildcats in scoring dropping 16 points against the Red Raiders, marking his first
double-digit performance in conference play and first double-digit game since
Kansas State’s 92-50 win against Maryland-Eastern Shore on November 22
* Rodney McGruder was the only
other Kansas State player to reach double-digits getting 13 points on the
night, McGruder leads the team in scoring in
conference and overall play this season
* Kevin Wagner was one of two Red Raiders to reach
double-digits in scoring. Wagner scored 16 points setting a new career-high
– previous high was four points against Oral Roberts on December 22
* Wagner also logged 37 minutes playing in Wednesday’s game,
which is also most since the Oral Roberts game, and he started just his fourth
game of the season
* Jordan Tolbert also got on the right side of things as
well as the freshman finally eclipsed the 10-point mark, scoring 18 to lead the
team, for the first time since the first Big 12 game against Oklahoma State
– Tolbert went for 13 in that game which at the time marked his sixth
straight double-digit performance
* Besides Tolbet and Wagner, only
two other Red Raiders recorded any points, Luke Adams (4), Jaye
Crockett (9) the rest of the team scored no points
* Three out of Tech’s starting five players ended up laying
goose eggs and scoring 0 points including Robert Lewandowski, who went for 20
against Iowa State on Sunday
* Tech committed 25 tunrovers
compared to the 17 for Kansas State, but the Wildcats cashed in on the Red
Raiders turnovers scoring 27 points off of them, while the Tech got just 7
points off turnovers
* The 25 turnovers for the Red Raiders marks the most they
have committed in a game this season passing their previous mark of 23 which
they did against Texas A&M on January 14
* The Red Raiders are back in action on Saturday against No.
2 Missouri in Columbia with a 12:30 p.m. first tip
