FREE STORY: Texas Tech has landed a commitment from Connor Groom at John Tyler.

Connor Grooms, a 6-foot-4, 285-pound offensive lineman from Tyler Lee High in Texas previously held offers from schools like Houston, Kansas and Memphis.

But an in-state walk-on offer from his dream school is what he was looking for.

"Well as you probably heard I am playing at Tech next year," the East Texas offensive lineman confirmed via a text message.

Groom will definitely be keeping a strong family tradition alive in Lubbock.

Well, both my dad's parents, both my parents and one of my brothers have all graduated from Tech," Grooms explained. "And I've got another there now, so it sorta runs in the family and has really pretty much been my dream to play there since I started getting recruited."

With Grooms on board Texas Tech has four total D1 worth offensive line commits towards its 2012 recruiting efforts.
