* Lady Raiders defeated the Cyclones 51-41 on Sunday inside
the United Spirit Arena
* Attendance: 7,297
* The 800th win banner was unveiled at halftime
recognizing the Lady Raiders 800th program which came on November 26
with a 76-43 win against Central Arkansas. Tech ranks 14th all-time
with now 813 program wins, Tech is one of three Big 12 teams in the Top 17 in
all-time wins, (Texas – 6th with 880, Kansas State 13th
with 818)
* Marked the second straight win for the Lady Raiders when
wearing the pink uniforms, defeated No.1 Baylor last season in Lubbock when wearing
the special uniforms
* The 51 points marks the lowest point total for the Lady
Raiders in a win this season, previous was 58 they scored against Oklahoma State
* Holding Iowa State to 41 points marks the lowest point
total for an opponent in a game all season, the Cyclones scored 66 in their win
against the Lady Raiders earlier this season
* With the win Tech improves to 17-7 overall and 5-7 in Big
12 play, with that as well Tech has won three of its last five games
* Iowa State falls to 14-9 and 5-7 in Big 12 play, and the
loss snapped a three-game winning streak that included wins against Oklahoma State,
Texas and Missouri
* Tech lost senior Kierra Mallard
to a left knee injury in the game, she did not return to the game. Mallard
finished the game 2-for-5 for four points and no rebounds
* Monique Smalls was also shaken up in the game, but
returned and finished the game with X points
* The Lady Raiders were led by Chynna Brown, who finished
the night going for 19 points and was the only Tech player to reach
double-digits in scoring
* The 19 points by Brown are the most she has recorded in
Big 12 play, and also marks her second straight game of reaching double digits
(16 vs. Oklahoma State)
* Tech is now 2-4 in games where they are held to having one
player score in double-digits
* The Cyclones on the other hand had three players in
double-digits,
but it wasn’t enough as Chelsea Poppens
went for 12 points on 4-for-7 shooting, but fouled out of the game with 2:10
left on the clock
* The other Cyclones that reached double-digits were Nikki
Moody and Kelsey Harris who both scored 11 points on the afternoon
* Tech committed just seven turnovers, which is a season-low
and the fewest committed since turning the ball over eight times against
Missouri on February 5
* The Lady Raiders also outrebounded the Cyclones 41-40, and
Tech was better in the second chance point category outscoring Iowa State 12-4
* Iowa State is back in action on Wednesday when they take
on Kansas at 7 p.m. at home, while the Lady Raiders will get back to the
hardwood on Wednesday on the road taking on Texas at 7 p.m.
