For the second-straight season Texas Tech gunslinger Seth Doege has been named a semifinalist for the Davey O’Brien Award, which goes to
the top quarterback in the nation.
Doege leads all quarterbacks in touchdowns this season with
28, 13 of which coming in the past two games, and also thrown only one
interception in the past two games as well.
The Wolfforth native joins four other quarterbacks from the
Big 12 Conference; the five selections lead all conferences, to receive a nod
as semifinalists for the national award.
Colin Klein (Kansas State), Geno
Smith (West Virginia), Nick Florence (Baylor) and Landry Jones (Oklahoma) were
the other quarterbacks from the Big 12 to receive recognition.
Out of all the conferences, the Big 12 led the way with the
five selections; the closest to them was the SEC with three.
In the field of 16 semifinalists, five, including Doege, are
making the list for the second-straight season - Matt Barkley (USC), Tajh Boyd (Clemson), Landry Jones (Oklahoma) and Denard Robinson (Michigan).
