Mesquite, Texas wide receiver Dameon Gamblin wouldn't waste any time jumping at a TCU offer.

Despite missing two games with an injury, Mesquite wide receiver Dameon Gamblin has had a good season. The fleet receiver has also helped the Skeeters to a perfect 10-0 record in the regular season.

"It's going good, I've only played in seven games but I have 38 catches, almost 600 yards and 5 touchdowns," he said of the season. "I played last week and I had 75 yards in the first half last week."

Among the victories for Mesquite was against Arlington Bowie, who finished the regular season with a 9-1 record. The Skeeters beat the Volunteers 34-20 and Gamblin turned in his best game of the season.

"That was my best game of the season against them. I had 9 catches for 156 yards and2 scores," he said. "They played man just about the whole game. We kept trying to dink it down the field and the game was tied late and I asked our coach to air it out and spread them apart and we started to pull away from them in the fourth quarter. That's when I got my two touchdowns against them."

Recruiting has remained steady for Gamblin, who said plenty of teams are showing interest. Among the several is TCU, who Gamblin speaks with on a weekly occasion.

"I've been getting phone calls and a lot of emails," he said of his contacts with TCU. "There hasn't really been any offer talk but they tell how much they like me and how much I fit into the offense. I hope they offer soon."

Although he doesn't hold an offer just yet, one could be coming his way very soon from a Mountain West program.

"New Mexico said their whole offensive staff really liked me and they want me on board. All they have to do is show my film and transcript to the head coach and they're going to pull the trigger on me," he said. "Texas State, Texas Tech, A&M and Tulsa are also looking. A&M told my coach that they've already offered everyone they're going to offer but after signing day if they don't get someone committed that they want, I'll be the next person in line for the offer."

When asked what team stood out at the moment, Gamblin without any hesitation named one school. In fact, he says an offer from them would end his recruitment.

"TCU, that's my favorite so far," he said. "If they offered, I'd jump on it. I've been talking to my family about where I want to go to school and TCU is always at the top of my list. It's one of my dream schools and I'm good friends with Ranthony Texada and he's committed there. I also know people that go to TCU so it wouldn't be like I'm the only one up there trying to find my way. I would have someone to guide me. And it's close to home so my family could see me play, especially my mom."

Gamblin and his mom will make the drive to TCU on Saturday to watch the Frogs take on #2 Kansas State.
