At one time it seemed that Oklahoma State had emerged as the leader for Munday's Class A Division II…
Paul A Champion
Munday won the Texas class A Division II championship Thursday afternoon with a convincing 42-14 win over Tenaha. Not surprisingly, the Moguls were again led by super-athlete Dee Paul. The senior quarterback rushed for 263 yards on the day, scoring three touchdowns that all covered more than 50 yards. Paul's second half touchdown runs of 55 and 60 yards broke open a game that was tied 14-14 at the half. "It felt good, it was a great group of us with seventeen seniors and we went out and did our thing," he said. "We have to get ready for basketball now." Despite last season's 52-28 loss to Tenaha in the championship, revenge wasn't on the mind of Paul. "I just tried to put last year's game behind me and not think about it much," Paul said. "I just tried to go out there and do what we do and do what the coaches told us to do all week." With the seconds finally winding down and Paul on the sideline cheering his team on, it finally hit him that his team had won a championship. "I didn't feel like we had it wrapped up until about forty-seconds left in the game," Paul said. "We had to keep our foot on the pedal; you can't overlook a team no matter what because anything can happen. You've got to play the whole four quarters." Thanks to an explosive run through the playoffs, Paul's recruiting has picked up. He's added new offers from Baylor and Tennessee to go along with his offers from Texas Tech and Oklahoma State. "Everybody wants me to come play defensive back," he said. "I just got to go in there and sit down and talk it out with my mom and make the decision when it comes time to make a decision." As for when that decision will come, Paul is still listening to those programs that are willing to show him interest. "I'm interested in whoever is interested in me," he said.
