Midlands FCS Commits

Spring Westfield RB Emmit Raleigh...to Lamar

FOX Sports NEXT has some updates on players in the Dallas and Houston areas who have committed to FCS programs.

Henderson Chooses Jackson State
Throughout the process, Duncanville (TX) defensive tackle Cornelius Henderson had a number of FCS offer from schools in the Southland Conference, but also had a big-school offer as well with Arkansas State. When it was all said and done, he chose Jackson State this past Monday.

"Two days ago I committed to Jackson State. It was the environment and the relationship with the coaches that was the difference," Henderson said. "Athletically and academically, I thought it was a good fit for me and a place where I can grow."

He is being recruited for the defensive tackle position, but it was mentioned that he could play offensive guard as well.

SOC Crew Headed to SWAC
Two defenders have decided to take their talents to the SWAC. Cornerback Michael Blanco (5-10, 170) and defensive end McKendrick McKenzie (6-3, 245) both committed to HBU program Arkansas Pine-Bluff according to one of the coaches at Dallas (TX) South Oak Cliff. The duo committed on last Sunday.

Raleigh Running for Cardinals
All-State running back from Spring (TX) Westfield Emmit Raleigh has decided he will stay in the Lone Star State and play for Lamar University. For some time, the 6-foot, 200-pound Raleigh held on to a HBU offer, waiting to see what else would come up.

Recently, he sent over a message…

"Lamar offered me last Tuesday and I took a visit there this past weekend. I' still open," the message from Raleigh read.

Two days later…

"I just committed to Lamar."

In his last season at Westfield, Raleigh ran for over 1,800 yards and 27 touchdowns.
