Texas Tech head basketball coach Tubby Smith has landed his first recruit of 2013.

After former Red Raider Josh Gray decided to transfer, a major question came up.

Who is going to run the point for Texas Tech?

Tech first-year head coach Tubby Smith has answered that question with his first recruit signing.

Point guard Rob Turner has decided to join the Red Raider basketball program following two successful seasons at New Mexico Junior College.

Turner, an Augusta, Georgia native, comes to Tech following a season, which saw the Thunderbirds lift the NJCAA Region V Championship.

The 6-foot-1, 175 pound point guard averaged 9.8 points per game and 2.3 rebounds per game while playing in 30 games for the Thunderbirds.

Turner was also an effective shooter from the field hitting 42.9 percent of his shots and hit 62.6 percent of his shots from the charity stripe.
