Three Essential Keys
The Sooners are a horrible passing team. Sometimes quarterback Blake Bell gets a hot hand, but he's more of a running quarterback. The other quarterback, Trevor Knight, is not exactly Troy Aikman either. The Sooners have been held under 200 yards rushing twice this season. The Sooners only loss came in one of those two games. The Texas Longhorns held Oklahoma to 130 yards rushing. Stop the run and good things will happen.
Make Lots of Money
Texas Tech's defense needs to get off the field. The Longhorns held Oklahoma 2-13 on third down. Texas and TCU are the only teams to win time of possession against the Sooners. TCU lost by three points. Texas humiliated the Sooners in the Red River Rivalry. The Tech defense needs to remain on the sideline and it can do that by winning the "money down."
Silence the crowd
Oklahoma has lost three times in Norman in the past two seasons. In each of those three times, the visitor scored the first touchdown and was the first team to double digit points. Prior to Texas Tech pulling off the upset in 2011, the Sooners had not lost a home game since 2005. Texas Tech must take out the crowd quickly. If the Sooners score first, Tech must hope House of Pain's "Jump Around" is not on the playlist.
