Texas Tech confirmed Monday that sophomore guard Dusty Hannahs has asked for and been granted his release in order to transfer.
The Little Rock, Arkansas native averaged 7.7 points a game, 1.3 assists and 1.4 rebounds in 22 minutes per game off the bench in 2013-14 for the Red Raiders. Hannahs averaged 6.7 points, 1.1 rebounds as a freshman the previous season.
Hannahs poured in a career-high 25 points on 7-of-7 shooting from behind the 3-point line at West Virginia on Jan. 22, but struggled down the stretch, failing to score more than five points in his final six games.
His departure opens up another scholarship for Texas Tech to use on a 2014 recruit.
