Dauphine Still Solid with Texas Tech

Port Arthur Memorial running back and 2015 Texas Tech commit Corey Dauphine has received a lot of attention lately as his speed has been on full display all track season. Despite several new offers, including one from in-state rival Baylor, Dauphine said he's still solid with the Red Raiders.

Texas Tech commit Corey Dauphine
looks forward to competing in the state track meet after recording an impressive time of 21.14 seconds in the 200 last weekend at regionals.

The Port Arthur Memorial product rushed for over 500 yards and 14 touchdowns this past football season and qualified for the state track meet in the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter relay.

He credits this success to his hard work after his injury last season put him out for a while he came back wanting it more than ever.

"I really felt good because I work really hard and everything just paid off right then," Dauphine said.

As for his commitment to Texas Tech, Dauphine is still solid even after picking up an offer from Baylor this week. He has also recently received offers from Louisiana-Lafayette and Memphis. Dauphine plans on coming to Lubbock for a camp this summer and maybe an additional visit.

Assistant coach Mike Jinks has been recruiting Dauphine and reinforces the role he will have at Texas Tech. Dauphine said most of their conversations about how he is an important role to the team.

"We talk about how they are going to take one running back and that they are only going to take me," Dauphine said. "It feels good to be their top guy."
