Giles Commits to Texas Tech

Fort Bend Elkins athlete Jonathan Giles committed to the Red Raiders days after being offered.

Texas Tech picked up its
seventh commitment of the 2015 class in the form of Fort Bend Elkins athlete Jonathan Giles.

Giles (6-0, 170,) who threw for over 3,000 yards and rushed for another 1,100 with 43 total touchdowns in 2013, announced his commitment on Twitter, "IT OFFICIAL!! I HAVE COMMIT TO TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY!!! #GUNSUP!!!"

He chose the Red Raiders over offers from Colorado, Fresno State, Houston, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri and North Texas.

Giles told Scout.com's Ahmad Vital recently that Texas Tech visited a couple days ago, explained they wanted him as a receiver and offered him a scholarship. The Red Raiders apparently made an impression.

"The Texas Tech coaches (one of which was assistant – running backs coach Mike Jinks) came by practice. They like the way I am a leader on and off the field," Giles told Vital. "They (and most other staffs as well) say I can play the inside or outside receiver spot. They want me to be able to make plays."
