Buechele Talks Texas Tech Offer

Texas Tech offered Arlington Lamar quarterback Shane Buechele on Monday at a satellite camp in Lancaster. Buechele is the first QB to be offered by the Red Raiders in the 2016 recruiting cycle. RaiderPower.com caught up with him recently to get his reaction to the offer and what he thinks of Texas Tech.

As we all know, Kliff knows quarterbacks. And with the high number of transfers from the program over the course of the year, coach Kingsbury and Co. are looking to add some depth, as well as breed future stars at the quarterback position.

The young Tech staff has done just that as they are off to the races with the signing of Patrick Mahomes (2013 AP Texas High School Player of the Year/Whitehouse, TX) in 2014, as well as the commitment of blue chip prospect Jarrett Stidham (Stephenville, TX).

But let us fast forward to the class of 2016, where Arlington Lamar's Shane Buechele (6-2, 185) looks to solidify himself as one of the top quarterbacks in the state of Texas after throwing for almost 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns and rushing for another 352 yards and two scores as a sophomore last season for the Vikings.

It's already looking good for the youngest son of Texas Rangers legend, Steve Buechele, before his junior season even kicks off as the young Buechele has turned several heads of some prominent Division 1 programs across the country.

"Tech, TCU, and Kentucky have offered me. And OU, Texas, Baylor, A&M, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Iowa, and Nebraska have all shown interest," stated Buechele Wednesday.

Having already solidified offers from Texas Tech, Kentucky, and TCU, many Red Raiders can find the common denominator between those three programs. Each of them have Red Raider connections. Between Kentucky employing three of Tech's former assistants, and TCU wrangling Sonny Cumbie away from the Red Raider staff, it seems as if Buechele may feel right at home in the fast paced, Air Raid style offense.

But what exactly is his perception of the current state of the Texas Tech football program?

"It's a very exciting offense and a very exciting program," Buechele said. "You throw it all the time, throw touchdowns, and you're with a group of coaches that are enthusiastic and bring a lot of energy to the table. Not many places have that."

It's apparent that Buechele is really high on Texas Tech in the early stages of his recruitment, so be on the lookout for the soon-to-be junior to get on campus at some point in the near future for an official visit.

"I don't have any set dates to go for a visit," said an enthusiastic Buechele." I would really like to, but I just haven't found any dates for sure yet"

But as it stands in the early stages of his recruitment, Buechele lists OU, Texas, Texas Tech, TCU, and Kentucky as his top five.
