TCU scored first on a three pointer, but Texas Tech answered quickly with a 9-0 run to take a 9-3 lead three minutes into the half. An offensive drought let the Horned Frogs back into the game. TCU took advantage of the Red Raiders’ mishaps to tie the game at 9-9 with 15:41 left in the half. Texas tech’s offensive struggles didn’t last long, as they went on an 18-0 run to give them a 29-12 lead with 7:31 left in the half. TCU was able to close the gap to 36-27 at the half.
Texas Tech started the second half strong, extending their lead to as much as 15 points before TCU fought their way back into the game. A 9-2 run by the Horned Frogs brought the score to 47-39 with 12:53 to go. Another run by TCU, this time 8 unanswered points, made the score 61-54 with 6 minutes left in the game. Texas Tech was able to maintain that margin for the final 6 minutes to win 67-60.
Offense
The Red Raiders finally got decent scoring from someone not named Andre Emmett, but the problem is that only four players scored in the entire game. It’s great to see players stepping up to score big points, but the entire team needs to be contributing points if this team is going to have any success in conference play. Andre Emmett led the way with 27 points. Jarrius Jackson added 19 points, while Robert Tomaszek contributed 17 points to the winning effort.
Defense
Texas Tech may not have played good on the offensive end, but they did have another solid defensive game. This defense is playing great team defense right now. The only problem is that unless the offense steps up their game, it simply won’t be enough to compete with the top half of the Big Twelve.
