The
Red Raiders are coming off a hard loss to the TCU Horned Frogs and are looking
to right the ship this week against Southeastern Louisiana. Coach Leach has
said repeatedly this past week that he will not hesitate to bench players that
aren’t giving it 100%, so I expect to see some lineup changes come Saturday.
As of writing this prediction, the game is 2000 tickets away from being a
sellout, so I expect a packed Jones Stadium to welcome the Red Raiders. Playing
in the comfy confines of the Jones has always helped Tech rise to excel, and
this week should be no different. The team will come out with a chip on their
shoulder and will want to prove that all three sides of the ball can play well
simultaneously.
Southeastern Louisiana gave up 381 passing yards to New Mexico State, a team
that runs a similar offense to Texas Tech. The Red Raiders will test their
secondary to an even greater degree, and blow this game wide open early.
The Red Raiders get back on track with a convincing win at home and then begin
preparations for the showdown next week in College Station against the Aggies of
Texas A&M.
Final Score: Texas Tech 55,
SE Louisiana 7

Texas Tech’s offense will look to get back on track this Saturday
as they host South Eastern Louisiana. After struggling against TCU, I look for
the Raiders to come out firing on all cylinders.
I don’t see South Eastern Louisiana keeping this game close. The defense will
continue to play well, and after being challenged by Coach Leach the offense
will respond. Graham and Company will get the Air Raid back to old form.
Final Score: Texas Tech 52,
South Eastern Louisiana 3

For the Red Raiders, this game
couldn't come at a better time. This is a big bounceback opportunity against a
team that is 0-2 against D1-A opponents. For Southeastern Louisiana, the
offense seems to run through Sophomore RB Jay Lucas who is both a rushing (7.3
YPC) and receiving (9 catches/tied for team lead) threat. The Lion defense is
led by Senior LB Demoris Hardiman (27 Tackles).
While Southeastern hopes to make some noise in the Southland Conference, they
catch a Texas Tech team that is eager to get on the right track before the start
of conference play. Southeastern Louisiana will be out-gunned and overmatched
against a Red Raider team looking to post a convincing win before traveling to
A&M.
Final Score: Texas Tech 59 -
Southeastern Louisiana 0

The Red Raiders look to bounce back from their nauseating
offensive performance in Ft. Worth.
Congratulations, Southeastern Louisiana! You are the “sacraficial lamb” that was
added to the end of non-conference play to give the Red Raiders a 12-game
schedule.
Historically, Tech is pretty darned good when playing a home game after a loss,
and with SELA being a D I-AA school, we really shouldn’t expect anything to
change.
There have been a few notable D-I teams that have fell to I-AA teams this year,
namely Colorado and New Mexico, but don’t expect that to happen here. SELA is
1-2 with both losses coming to D-I teams, putrid New Mexico State and so-so
Southern Mississippi.
Oh yeah – and add to that the fact that the Red Raiders are going to be an angry
football team Saturday. The offense should get back on track in this glorified
scrimmage, while SE Louisiana may score some trash points late.
Final Score: Texas Tech 59, SE
Louisiana 10.

The Texas Tech offense rebounds in a big
way against SE Louisiana. The Air Raid returns to normal, and dominates the
entire game. Chris Todd takes over early in the second half, and the offense
doesn't skip a beat. Nearly every receiver on the roster gets a catch, and the
team proves that the dismal effort against TCU was just an aberration. It
should be a 500+ yard performance by the team.
The defense continues their solid play from last week. Seniors Fletcher Session, Chris Hudler, and Keyunta Dawson are in top form, and the youngsters
continue to improve under their leadership. Chris Parker sits out the game to
return to full health, and Jamar Wall step up huge in his absence. Joe Garcia
and Anthony Hines both play well, and the secondary has another strong game.
The home crowd will offer their support and be a factor, and this game gets the Red
Raiders fully prepared to take on in-state rival A&M at Kyle Field.
Final Score: Texas Tech 48, SE
