Lonnie Edwards, a 6’5 315 pound offensive guard out of Browsboro, HS, switched his commitment from Baylor to Texas Tech last week.
The talented offensive lineman was being sought after by several high profile schools on top of Texas Tech. He had received offers from LSU, Georgia, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Arizona, Baylor, and Purdue, but opted to take his talent to Lubbock.
Lonnie had been considering Tech throughout the entire recruiting process, and really enjoyed what he saw here in Lubbock.
“I just felt the best at Texas Tech,” said Edwards. “I was really comfortable with the coaches and the entire atmosphere.”
The high powered offense implored by Mike Leach is always attracting high quality offensive players who have experience in the spread system. With Edwards, he ran a completely different type of offense in high school.
”In high school we ran mostly a run style offense, so it will be a change scheme wise for me at Tech,” said Edwards. “I’m a versatile player though, so I think I will fit in well there. They’re looking at playing me at guard.”
Now the big question is if Edwards is finished visiting other schools or if he will continue to look around.
“I’m done,” said Edwards. “I’m 100% sure on where I want to go.”
Edwards has fully qualified.
