- Graham Harrell (Texas Tech), Jordan Lake (Baylor), and Jeremy Maclin (Missouri) have been named Big 12 Conference Players of
the Week as selected by a media panel. Lake (defense) and Maclin
(special teams) are recognized for the first time, while Harrell
(offense) is selected for the second time in his career (October
2, 2006).
Offensive Player of the Week
Graham Harrell, Jr, QB, Texas Tech (Ennis, Texas)
Texas Tech's Graham Harrell completed 46 of 67 passes for a
career-best 646 yards in a 49-45 loss to Oklahoma State. He
threw five touchdown passes in the game, connecting from 9, 2,
12, 2, and 41 yards out. The 646 yards ranks second all-time in
the Big 12 and fourth in NCAA history. Harrell also broke his
own Big 12 class record for a junior set the previous week.
Defensive Player of the Week
Jordan Lake, So, FS, Baylor (Houston, Texas) Jordan Lake had a
hand in four of the five turnovers caused by the Baylor defense
in its 34-21 win at Buffalo. Lake intercepted two passes and
forced two fumbles in the contest, leading to 13 Baylor points.
He also recorded six tackles, including four solo stops and a
fumble recovery.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Jeremy Maclin, Fr, KR, Missouri (Kirkwood, Mo.) The nation's all
purpose yardage leader, Jeremy Maclin, combined for 163 return
yards in Missouri's 38-17 victory over Illinois State. Maclin
totaled 81 punt return yards, including a 64-yarder for
touchdown, to go with 82 kickoff return yards. He is tied atop
the Mizzou single-season punt returns for touchdowns list with
two.
