Rollison: Favorites vs. Offers Premium Story

Sulphur Springs QB several Tyrik Rollison has a clear list of favorites and is beginning to set a summer schedule. After a junior year where he generated more than 4,000 yards of offense, several schools have taken notice and requested his services. He holds plenty of scholarship offers, but what is his status with his leader, Texas Tech? RaiderPower.com has the update.

While Scout.com’s No. 18-ranked quarterback holds seven scholarship offers, none of them are listed in Sulphur Springs' signal caller Tyrik Rollison’s top choices. And even though he is very excited about how his recruitment is going, there are a couple of schools he would like to hear from more.

And hopefully pull in an offer.

“I would have to say that Texas Tech and Oklahoma State are my two favorites,” Rollison said. “Neither of them have offered me, but I really like how both schools run the spread offense.”

But of the two schools mentioned, it seems like his connection to the Red Raiders could be a bit stronger. That could be because he has already traveled there and experienced the campus and the town of Lubbock.

When the 6-foot-2, 185-pound Rollison went down to Texas Tech for a junior day, he walked away feeling like that was home.

“It was a great environment, and I got to meet the coaches and the players,” Rollison said. “When I talked with the coaches, it was like I was talking with friends and family. I was comfortable.”

Not only was there a certain comfort level with the coaches, but he also enjoyed spending time with the players. And Rollison got the chance to walk around with the Red Raiders’ leader.

“Quarterback Graham Harrell was someone I definitely wanted to talk to,” Rollison said. “I was with him for a little while, and he introduced me to a couple of the players.”

While making the rounds to speak with different players, Rollison also took some time to get some one-on-one with Harrell.

“I just asked him a few things like how the campus and how did he like playing quarterback for Texas Tech,” Rollison said. “He told me that this was the best campus he visited when he was getting recruited. He told me to also stay calm to help me perform better on the field.”

While in Lubbock, Rollison did not get the chance to see Coach Mike Leach because he had to get back home from an 8-hour drive. But with the Red Raiders at the top of his list, there is a good chance he will be back.

In fact, that is the only planned visit on his summer agenda.

“They [the coaches] have invited me to come visit again,” Rollison said. “I don’t have a schedule of everywhere I plan to go this summer, but I am for sure going to Texas Tech.”

As far as his other options, Rollison holds offers from TCU, Nebraska, Alabama, Texas A&M, Florida State, Houston, and Kansas. He said that coaches from Baylor, Oregon, and Air Force have been by to see him during spring football.

The Texas Prep star finished the season with 3,700 passing yards and 43 touchdowns. On the ground he added another 500 and 10 touchdowns.
