Texas Tech blew out SMU 43-7 Saturday night at Jones AT&T stadium in front of a sellout crowd, improving their record to 3-0 on the season. The Red Raider defense stole the show once again, intercepting 5 passes during the game and paving the way for the offense to put up the huge numbers they have become accustomed to.

Senior quarterback Graham Harrell was back in true form against the SMU Mustangs, passing for 418 yards and 5 touchdowns. Sophomore Michael Crabtree had a superb night as well and ended the game with 164 yards and 3 scores.

Running backs Baron Batch and Shannon Woods were punishing on the ground, with Batch rushing for 99 yards and 1 touchdown and Woods adding 88 yards. Batch added another 71 yards receiving for a total of 170 all-purpose yards.

After settling for a field goal on their first possession and punting on their second, Texas Tech found the endzone on a 43 yard run up the middle by Baron Batch. Batch split a few defenders and then simply used his speed to coast in for the first touchdown of the night.

"It was just a huge hole," said Batch. "I contribute that to Ryan Hale. He laid a great lead block. Had Shannon been in there he would have done the same thing."

With 8:51 second left in the second quarter, Harrell hooked up for a 47 yard pass to Crabtree, which set yet another Texas Tech record. Harrell set the school record for most passing career touchdowns with 101, eclipsing the 100 mark set by Kliff Kingsbury.

Harrell also set the record for career passing touchdowns with his 96th touchdown.

Defensively, Daniel Charbonnet led the way for the Red Raiders, picking off 3 balls on his way to setting a new school record for most interceptions in a game.

The Red Raiders continue to struggle with their kicking game, as true freshman Donnie Carona missed an extra point and a 44 yard field goal.

Attendance: 53,383 (Sellout)
