Tech, Texas Selected for National Broadcast

The Big 12 Conference announced Monday that ABC or ESPN will air No. 6 Texas Tech’s Big 12 Conference game against No. 1 Texas for a 7 p.m. CT broadcast Nov. 1 from Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock. The game will be the sixth of the season on television for the Red Raiders.

The Red Raiders and Longhorns are both 7-0 on the season and 3-0 in Big 12 Conference play entering this weekend’s games. Texas Tech faces No. 18 Kansas in Lawrence in a game that will be aired nationally on ESPN at 11 a.m. Saturday. Texas hosts No. 8 Oklahoma State in Austin.

Texas leads 42-14 in a series that has continued annually since the 1960 season. Tech last knocked off Texas, 42-38, when the Longhorns were ranked third in 2002. The two teams were involved in an offensive shootout last year in Austin as Texas prevailed 59-43. The teams combined for 1,027 total yards, including 734 through the air.

Other games slated for broadcast Nov. 1 are Nebraska at Oklahoma (7 p.m., ABC or ESPN), Iowa State at Oklahoma State (2:30 p.m., ABC) and Kansas State at Kansas (11:30 a.m., FSN).

A decision the network will be determined at the conclusion of this weekend’s games.
