Batch Named Co-Big 12 Player of the Week

Texas Tech running back rushed for four scores, three in the fourth quarter, in win over Kansas

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech running back Baron Batch was named the Co-Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week following his performance in the Red Raiders' 42-21 win over No. 25 Kansas. Batch joins quarterbacks Taylor Potts and Steven Sheffield on the honoree list this season.

Batch exploded for three of his four rushing scores in the fourth quarter, as Tech outscored the Jayhawks 28-0 in the final frame. The Red Raiders trailed 21-14 entering the fourth quarter, before Batch's barrage of touchdowns and 106 rushing yards in the fourth thrust Tech to the win. He finished the game with 123 rushing yards and also caught five passes.

On the season, Batch ranks eighth among Big 12 players in scoring (7.3 per game), third in scoring by TDs (7.3), tied first in rushing TDs (10) and first in yards per rush (5.7).

Batch shares this week's honor with Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones, who threw for 294 yards and four touchdowns on 26-of-37 passing in the Sooners' win over Kansas State.

The Red Raiders have the weekend off, before resuming play at Oklahoma State on Nov. 14. Game time will be announced later today.
